Aging and Long-Term Support Administration (ALTSA) is the state agency in charge of care for those who need long-term support They have programs for older adults and individuals with disabilities, including several Medicaid waiver programs that provide respite care. Area Agencies on Ageing (AAAs) are charged with helping older adults, and in some cases, those with non-age related disabilities.  They offer information and resources for caregivers, often including respite.  They are well equipped to help caregivers in their area, as they have information about community resources that statewide organizations may not have. If you are looking for respite services and can’t afford them on your own, ask about the Family Caregiver Support Program.
